I'm using a Mac, and I've been using Visual Studio in a VirtualBox virtual machine for a few years with no issues. But I decided to give Parallels a try, and I've run into the following problem.
When I open an existing MVC application, I see the error message:
If I try to create a new MVC application, I get a different error:
It then refers me to ActivityLog.xml, where I see this error:
I initially got Parallels to convert my VirtualBox VM. When I got this error, I created a new VM, installed Windows and Visual Studio from scratch, and I'm still seeing exactly the same errors on a clean build.
Has anyone seen anything like this before???
EDIT - SOLVED!!!*
Parallels links folders on the VM such as Documents, Downloads and Recycle Bin with the equivalent folders on the host machine.
On my Mac, my Documents folder is in a non-standard location. This meant that the linked Documents folder on the VM didn't work. And apparently Visual Studio doesn't like not having a Documents folder, even if I'm not (knowingly) using it.
When I configured Parallels to not link the Documents folder, everything started working.
Thanks for your suggestions!
